Exhibition Overview
Taisan Tanaka is an innovative calligraphy artist and is constantly growing as one through the various stages of his life. The pieces of this exhibition summarizes the entirety of his past, present and his future and ultimately displays what Taisan Tanaka is as an artist. Turning the ripe age of 40 this year, Tanaka has prepared a total of 40 calligraphy pieces that describe himself in each step of life. The black and white pieces represent his experiences, thoughts, emotions and what he has become as an artist.
Taisan Tanaka will hold his own live calligraphy performance during the exhibition’s opening party on January 25th at 7:00pm!

Taisan Tanaka
Calligrapher
Taisan Tanaka is a contemporary Japanese artist. He specializes in a fusion of drawing calligraphy. His works have been performanced in the U.S. Department of Defense in Japan, Klingspor Museum (Museum of Contemporary Calligraphy) in Germany, among others.
Tanaka is teaching Monday Sumi-e classes at the RESOBOX Gallery & Cafe (LIC) location.
